SWAMINSIGHTS : CLEAN THE GROUND

Swami Advaitanand was cleaning  the  leaves on the ground and his disciple was watching him.

Disciple: Swamiji, why are you cleaning this ground? Someone else will readily do it

Swamiji: O dear, so you think I am cleaning the ground ?

Disciple thinks as Swamiji is cleaning by his views but it might not be the case.
Swamiji might be collecting leaves for his purpose.
Or also Swamiji is doing his job and he really don't bother if someone else will really do it or not.

So message might be we should keep doing right things/karma in life without thinking of any one.

I think Swami is collecting leaves to take care them.May be he will burn them or decompose them. Leaves / trees provide shade to humans in summer and in fall season when the leaves of a tree falls we should take care of them.

The answer is right or wrong only till the extent it helps us to learn the fundamentals of vedantic living. This story is analogues to Zen Koan which is a riddle or puzzle that Zen Buddhistsuse to unravel greater truths about the world and about themselves.
Let me share my version of anwer and interpretation.
When one perform actions as a contribution or service to the world, it ends up purifying his or her mind. It doesn't really matter if the action is big or small. A person with purified mind becomes master of his or her life.
Swamiji has exactly pointed out the underlying mechanism that although at physical level he is cleaning the ground, in reality he is cleaning his mind.

This is the essence of Karma Yoga. Each and every actions we undertake must be performed as contribution and service to the world to make it a better place. This very attitude automatically leads to higher control over mind, focus, emotional intelligence and inner bliss. Let's Practice and Experience!
