Raise your hand

Teacher just finished a lesson in Social science. She asked, how many of you understood the concepts of ethics, responsibility and contribution?  All the students immediately raised their hand with pride. Teacher Looked at the students and said

Well, Great. Now because you have understood this concept, who can help everyone and ensure that your classmates complete their homework in time!

And all the hands went down next moment!

This goes back to Swami Vivekananda’s profound message that it is not only knowledge, strength, capability and wealth which matters alone. They are all important but we need to move ahead to complete the journey. The next phase is to utilize what we gained to contribute, serve humanity, perform our duties well and overall make this world a better place.  

It's more clear why the concepts of Oneness and Manifestation of Divinity is always expounded in single breath in the literature. Swami Vivekananda also says that former part of taking actions becomes natural if first part of knowing reality is deeply internalized. So that once we raise the hand, we keep it always up to lead life’s endeavors for self and for others.
